That is, until now…In a new report, DigiTimes reveals the so-called 'budget iPhone X' will not have the thick bezels widely expected to be inevitable due to its cost-saving LCD display. Instead, a technological breakthrough means Apple can create the exact same bezel-less design as the more expensive second-generation iPhone X (details) and new iPhone X Plus (details). The alternative now doesn't bear thinking about, as dummy units showed that using standard LCD technology inside the new budget iPhone would have resulted in a hideous, toy-like design. By avoiding that and keeping the premium look, it means the features where the budget iPhone X does make compromises can be largely overlooked. New iPhone Leak Reveals Apple's Powerful But Inevitable Decision

Forbes' Gordon Kelly first reported on Apple's plans in April this year, noting that the fast charger is already an Apple product, but only available as an accessory. That means Apple will package the new iPhone X handsets with a USB-C to lightning charging cable. The inclusion of the fast charger is welcome, although I do wonder why it has taken so long for Apple to do so. The next question is when Apple will release hardware that will enable fast wireless charging using Apple's AirPower. That was announced at the iPhone X launch but still remains a vapourware product that is not yet available for consumers to buy.
