Apple iPhone replacement cycle slowing, Toni Sacconaghi says

Bernstein analyst Toni Sacconaghi said in a note to investors on Friday that people are holding on to their iPhones longer than ever before, which may spell trouble for Apple as consumers upgrade to new models less often. "Replacement cycles are elongating ... a lot," Sacconaghi said, noting that people are using their iPhones longer because of Apple's battery replacement program, changes in carrier subsidies and higher prices, among other reasons. "Our customers are holding on to their older iPhones a bit longer than in the past," Cook said. "When you paired this with the macroeconomic factors particularly in emerging markets, it resulted in iPhone revenue that was down 15 percent from last year." Sacconaghi said 16 percent of that base will buy a new iPhone this year and that Apple's fiscal 2020 "offering is unlikely to stimulate an acceleration in iPhone replacement cycles."

Apple Leak Details Shock iPhone 7, iPhone 8 Upgrades

As it stated in WinFuture explains that Apple is modifying both the iPhone 7 and iPhone 8 to such an extent that they require specific new model numbers, such as 'MN482ZD' and 'MQ6K2ZD'. While it remains to be seen if Apple's ploy is successful, the move makes sense as the potential for Qualcomm to win additional iPhone sales bans around the world will only grow following the precedent set in Germany. Needless to say, the opportunity for Apple to make additional upgrades, such as a larger battery, would prove extremely popular and it is worth noting that Apple included multiple upgrades in iOS 12.1.2 which was primarily released for similar legal reasons. That said, with Apple already laser-focused on much more ambitious plans for the upcoming iPhone 11, I'd be surprised if the company is so generous here. But we can hope…___Follow Gordon on Twitter, Facebook and Google+More On ForbesApple Patents iPhone With Full-Screen Touch IDApple Discusses Making iPhone Price CutsApple Patents Controversial iPhone Camera ChangeFirst iPhone XI Design Leak Highlights Triple Rear CameraApple Supplier Announces Potentially Revolutionary iPhone Tech

Apple Patents Reveal New Touch ID Equipped iPhone

Taking inspiration from rivals, Apple shows-off work to build Touch ID into the display of iPhones. Because this is Apple's second leak detailing an in-display Touch ID iPhone in a month. Earlier in December, Apple also filed new iPhone Touch ID patents devised by engineer Dale Setlak, who joined from Authentec, the company Apple bought in 2012 to acquire the technology behind Touch ID. But right now combining the industry's best facial recognition with a (presumably ultrasonic-based) in-display Touch ID display is a win-win. iPhone XS Vs iPhone XR: What's The Difference?
