Concept video shows an edgeless iPhone 8 with its rumored new ‘function area’ – BGR

There's a lot of excitement surrounding the upcoming Apple iPhone 8 even though we are months away from the announcement date. At the moment, very little is known about Apple's plans with the new rumoured 3D camera. Now a new report published by 9to5Mac suggests that the upcoming iPhone 8 may feature a major upgrade to the front camera. The analyst further goes on to say that combination of front camera and 3D sensor would allow the iPhone to generate a 3D selfie which could be used in augmented reality. It's possible that Apple might use algorithms developed by PrimeSense that it acquired back in 2013.

One of the more fascinating and intriguing iPhone 8 rumors we've come across suggests that Apple's next-gen smartphone will feature a "function area" located towards the bottom of the display. In one example highlighted by the video, the function area would allow a user to seamlessly zoom in on a photo by quickly sliding their finger across the display.
